For a day trip from Otter Creek Lodge, visit the historic home of Almonzo Wilder (Little House On The Prairie, book Series) located just outside Malone NY.

Travel about an hour to Old Forge for great shopping and entertainment for the children like Enchanted Forest and Water Safari Water Park. Canoe the Fulton Lake Chain.

Go a little further up the road to Blue Mountain Lake to the Adirondack Museum. This is a wonderful museum that is a must see for anyone wanting to take a day away from the activities at Otter Creek Lodge. The Adirondack Park history is presented in an outstanding fashion.


See the latest theatre releases at an old-fashioned drive-in, Valley Brook Drive-in, only 15 minutes from Otter Creek Lodge. $4/adults, under 12 free, double features shown nightly beginning at dusk (approximately 9pm) - seasonal. Directions: Take Sand Pond Road back to Erie Canal Road. Make a left onto Erie Canal Road, bear left onto Chase Lake Road and continue until the road T's at Greig Road. Drive to the nearby town of Croghan for a nostalgic shopping experience. Wet your whistle at Wishy's with authentic soda shop fizz and counter. Enjoy an ice cream cone of unparalleled size. Or scour Marilly's Department Store for unusual hard to find treasures. Pick up some of their terrific cheese while you are there. Have a sweet tooth? Collect hard to find Beanie Babies? Prefer a local butcher? Find all of these shops and others in Croghan.

Visit noteworthy Constable Hall located a short drive from Otter Creek Lodge in the town of Constableville, New York. Built in 1819 as a replica of a family-owned estate in Ireland, Constable Hall depicts the life, spirit, and history of family heritage. Historic pieces, gracious grounds, and inexhaustible research have helped put this museum on the map.
