Please see below for some frequently asked questions we receive here at the lodge. If you cannot find your answer here, feel free to shoot us an email.
Lowville is 20 minutes away and has a Tops and Walmart. It is a small town, however you can find most anything you will need. Miller’s is on the way to Lowville and is mostly a butcher shop and also a small grocery store.
The Lodge will be open when you arrive. If you are a new group to the Lodge our caretaker will meet you and go over everything.
The maximum number of people for our standard rate is 24. The mix of kids and adults does not change this. We have an additional bedroom that we charge extra for that will allow 2 more people for a total of 26.
Standard check in time is 3:00P and check out time is 10:00A. If your group would like to come early and leave late we offer an extended arrival and departure time with arrival time being any time after 12:00P and departure time being any time before 3:00P. The cost for this is $500. We cannot offer this if a group is checking in the day you depart or a group is departing the day you arrive.
You cannot smoke in the Lodge however we do permit it on the grounds but please dispose of your remains appropriately in the receptacles we provide.
We have two 12-cup Cuisinart drip style coffee makers and one Cuisinart K-Cup, single cup coffee maker. We supply coffee but we do not supply K-cups.
Yes, we supply firewood for the wood stove and outdoor fire pit.
No, we have 3 ice making machines so you will never run out of ice!
Yes, we have a full size freezer, a 3-Bay refrigerator and 3 drink coolers.
Yes, we have 3 sets of x-large capacity W/D.
Yes, we supply all of them including coffee.
No the lake is naturally acidic and will not support fish life other than small fish that the loons feed on. There are several good fishing lakes not far from the Lodge. Our caretaker can help locate them for you.
No, however he lives only a couple of miles from the Lodge and is very accessible should you need him.
No, we only rent the Lodge in its entirety to larger groups desiring use of the complete Lodge and the grounds.
Yes, use the 3D modeling tool on our site and select floor plan.
We love pets too. However please, no pets allowed. If you bring a pet, you will be charged $100 per day, no exceptions.
Yes, we have Satellite Internet service, which provides sufficient download speeds of 25-40 Mbps. We have optimized this service with an Eero Pro 6 tri-band mesh Wi-Fi 6 system. This extends the internet throughout the Lodge and Wi-Fi 6 delivers faster Wi-Fi with support for many connected devices simultaneously.
Yes we have a large gas grill. We supply propane.
Yes, the water is very good. Clear, clean and great tasting.

Yes, we allow small weddings less than 75 people. This includes a group up to 25 staying at the Lodge and an additional maximum of 50 people. All wedding are entirely catered by you and must include a tent for your outdoor ceremony. No wedding or receptions are allowed to take place inside the Lodge. Prior approval is necessary. A $300 grounds charge will apply.
Yes we have a short trail leading to Main Corridor C8A. This trail can take you to Brantingham, Old Forge, Stillwater and even Tug Hill region. No snowmobiling on our property. We receive over 200” of snow in a typical winter significantly improving your snow conditions.
Snow Ridge in Turin is a great family ski area about 30 minutes away. McCauley Mountain in Old Forge is about 1 hour. Both are located in the Lake Ontario eastern snow belt region and receive several hundred inches each year.
No, they are not allowed in our area of the Adirondack Park.
Fantastic! With over 200” of snow in a typical year you’re odds of great snow conditions are very high. You can ski our trail system located on our over 100 acres and you can connect to the nearby state trail system offering miles of groomed trails.
Yes, we have a trail system on our 100 acres that we maintain. We are also located on the 65 mile Otter Creek Horse Trail system owned and operated by the state. You have access to these trails for outstanding hiking and biking. Take our short trail from the Lodge to connect.
Otter Creek has over 100 acres and in some areas our land boarders state land. We allow hunting on our property only during the proper hunting season. You must have this approved with the owner first. You are allowed to hunt on all state land in the area.
A big yes! The lake is a glacial formed lake and is spring fed. It is a truly wonderful swimming lake. The water is clear and blue, not the typical brownish or brackish water that is so prevalent in the Adirondacks. The beach is a large level sandy area, as is the swimming area off of it. There are little to no weeds. The depth gradually drops to about 10 feet at our swimming platform. Overall depth reaches 60 feet.
No the beach is at the corner of the lake down a trail about 150 yards from the Lodge.
You can initiate a reservation from our calendar on our Dates and Rates page. You can also email us at vacations@ottercreeklodge.com. We require a signed rental agreement and a 50% deposit to reserve the Lodge.
If you cancel your reservation, you agree to forfeit any money that has been paid for the rental, not to exceed the full amount of the rental, provided the Lodge is not rented to another party for the same period. If the Lodge is rented to another party for the same period, you will be reimbursed the full amount of what you have paid. We will make every attempt to rent the Lodge for the timeframe you are canceling. The Lodge is not responsible for weather and reservations cannot be canceled due to weather.
